On 27 May, China Huaneng Group launched the Huaneng Advanced Production (HAP) system, a comprehensive nuclear power production management solution that was developed entirely in-house. It has now been implemented at the Changjiang Nuclear Power Company in Hainan, marking a significant milestone in the intelligent digital transformation and harmonization of production management in the nuclear power industry.

The HAP system is China’s first group-level nuclear power production management system that is compatible with both commercial pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGRs). It integrates a cross-business synergy model comprising 60 functional modules, six system interfaces, two intelligent applications, one iHN+ integration and one minimum emergency system. This advanced system enables nuclear power production to shift from an “experience-driven” to a “data-driven” approach.

In terms of the database, operating system and CPU, the HAP system has achieved localization and replacement of software and hardware, thereby establishing a self-reliant and controlled digital technology ecosystem for nuclear power. This sets a new industry benchmark for the application of information technology and innovation in the nuclear power sector.
